I recorded and mastered the show, and it was mixed at 609 Recording, in Bedford, Ohio, a few weeks ago. The live CD was mixed and produced by Pete Way, Don Depew (609), and myself. Michael's Withdrawal from the Tour: According to the official press release of the Legends of Rock, it has been official that Michael will not join the tour. The release is as follows:

Pete Way speaks about UFO tour: In the interview by Shelly Harris, Pete Way speaks about the possible UFO tour. Check out this good interview. (About Shelly, see 07/27/02 update No.2.)

• UFO lost $200,000 by not going on tour when Sharks first came out and they got it taken out of our advances. They lost all that money by not going on tour in Japan. Someone questioned whether UFO was just doing Sharks for the money, because they haven't toured yet. But, "if we're doing it for the money, tell me where the money is! So, we sure ain't doing that..."
• "I think eventually, after Christmas, UFO will tour. By then, Michael might be more anxious... I don't know, I might even get together with Michael and Uli Roth and do some thing in England. [Check out the big Legends of Rock tour in the UK in November."
• "There will definitely be a UFO tour. I don't know when, but January would be great. It would give Michael time to be okay."
• "I want to tour with UFO, but I don't want to do it if Michael is going to screw up. That would be like a slap in the face to the fans. This time it's going to be real!"
• The Plot won't come out until some time after Sharks.

Pete Interview/Radio Program: According to the website (Sep.6 news) of Joe Kleon who is a host of the radio program titled "Metalmorphosis" on WRUM-FM91.1, an Ohio FM station, Pete Way visited his studio "G4orce Studios" on September 4, and it will air on WRUW 09:00-11:00 Friday, October 4, the same day Pete comes to Parma for a show at the Revolution. Also, G4orce will be recording the Revolution show for a possible live release. The promotion for the program is here (RealAudio). The program will be streamed at WRUW.org (WinAmp, etc. needed). Sharks Japan Edition: The Japanese edition of Sharks has been released since September 21. As reported here, it includes three live bonus tracks. Also, it has lyric booklet as well as liner notes by Takehiko MAEDA (Burrn) and Japanese translation of lyrics. For unknown reason, the first part of Rock Bottom was cut off and it fades in.

Plot Boot?: According to a post to SITN, a Japanese bootleg trade webpage titled "Micky's Bootleg Trade" has the Plot related information. Looks like the webmaster has got this CD as a bootleg. For those who cannot understand Japanese, this person said as follows:

"The Plot" is a project by Michael Schenker and Pete Way. This should have been released as an official album, but for some reason it has been put aside indefinitely. Other recording members include Jeff Martin (ex-Racer-X) on drums. Pete sings on this album, punk kind of saporous vocal. This sound is not like MSG or UFO and a little different from MOGG/WAY. At a first listening, it reminded me of Pete's past project "Waysted". You cannot expect Schenker's wunderkind playing of his earlier fame, but you can hear some Schenkerish phrases. I myself give this CD a passing grade.

According to this info, the Plot's tracks are:

Trial Before Going On A Tour: In the latest interview, Phil Mogg said as follows:

We did a tour which finished rather badly in Manchester. Problems seemed to occur and things happened, and tour didn't get finished. I haven't seen Michael finish a tour for the last three or four tours, and that includes MSG. So I think the best thing would be if we did some festivals next year and see how it goes. We'll probably do some live recordings of the "Sharks", "Covenant" and "Walk On Water" material.

Sharks U.S. Release Date: A Shrapnel staff has confirmed that the release date for Sharks is September 3rd and they won't ship until then. Thanks for the info, Tom.

Sharks Japan Bonus: Victor Entertainment has kindly informed me that they are still planning to include 3 bonus tracks in the Japanese edition of Sharks but the titles have yet to be finalized. On the other hand, I have heard that the bonus tracks are Too Hot To Handle, Lights Out and Rock Bottom from the Buffalo gig during the Walk On Water tour. The list of these bonus tracks came from Pete Way, so not yet to take it as set in stone! These tracks were already released in U.K. as part of the live CD coupled with Covenant.

Vintage Michael Schenker interview: An old interview to Michael Schenker in 1984 has been added to Misc page. This interview was conducted in February 1984 by Shelly V. Harris who is a music writer and a music law attorney from the US. It was old but was an in-depth in-person interview. Really a good reading. Shelly very recently interviewed Rudolph Schenker again after a span of 18 years since her last in depth interview also done in 1984, which will soon be appearing at a website called www.classicrockrevisited.com.

Donnington CD to be Released: Live CD (double CD) of the Rock & Blues Festival at Donnington held on June 23, 2001 will be released in Japan on October 9 from Nippon Crown. It's title will be "LIVE AT THE CASTLE DONNINGTON". Side Cut?: According to a French music website Rock Time, UFO named their new album "Sharks", which is a side cut against the music business - the more ironical way. Thanks, Peter for this info.
