Hello Ritchie!

On Octorber 27th came Michael with his Temple Of Rock to Freiburg, the main city of the Black Forest area, playing at the Jazzhaus club. I think there were about 300 fans watching the show. And what a show it was! The support act was HighWay, a great young band with good songs and an asskickin' live performance. They got a lot of applause. After them, the mighty Temple Of Rock! From start to finish, Michael & Co. simply rocked the house to the ground. They took no prisoners, a very good mixture of the old UFO, Scorpions and Temple Of Rock tunes. And I saw for the first time Michael playing the double neck Flying V, also another Flying V with a hollow body which had a great deep sound. Michael used the double neck V mainly during Saviour Machine. He played slide on the lower neck and did rhythm on the upper one. For the next song he kept the Double V but played it only on the upper neck. I think it was Too Hot To Handle. The hollow body Flying V has got a deep, warm, electric/acoustic sound. It gave especially Rock Bottom and Blackout a special note. Doogie was like everytime a standout leadsinger, he hits all the notes and is very sympatic. What will come next? As everytime when I see this band, these guys enjoy what they are doing. The Jazzhaus is a little club, so it was an intimitate gig, too. I was never standing so close to the band. Wayne did a fantastic job when playing the leads for rock you like a hurricane and blackout. Michael was again very extroverted with lots of smiling, singing, laughing, pointing out some fans, looking directly in your eye. He is in great shape! And they played attack of the mad axeman, therefore no holiday! All in all it was a perfect rock night with a lot of happy faces, onstage and in front of it. Hermann did some nice words at the end of the show to the crowd. The sound could have been a little better, especially Wayne`s rhythm guitar and his keys were much too low. When UFO played a few month before at the Jazzhaus, I think there were only half of the people in the audience but they rocked, too. But Schenker with Temple Of Rock are the better ones these days and much better than the Scorpions!
