[12/12/01 update]
Michael Interview: You can find a commentary by Mr. Martin Popoff based on his interview to Michael Schenker at hardradio.com. Here is the direct link. Sounds like the interview was conducted at the early stage of the now-defunct U.S. tour. There are not many new information but Michael talks about:

[12/10/01 update No.2]
All remaining dates were cancelled: According to Chris Logan, because Michael Schenker became ill, he could not continue the tour and therefore, all remaining dates were cancelled.

[12/10/01 update]
Ventura Canceled: According to Terry and Mitch, the Box Office at Ventura Theatre (805-653-072) said that the MSG show the theatre was cancelled. Also, it seems they were totally unsatisfied with it because it was not the first time.

[12/08/01 update No.2]
Sacramento Canceled: MSG's concert in Sacramento has been cancelled. The recording at the club's phone number says that Michael has the flu and that he'll try to reschedule the concert for another time. Thanks Mike for the Info.

[12/08/01 update]
MSG Pics: Yet no news about whether the tour will go on. The Sacramento gig would start in about an hour (21:30 PST) if things are going well. In the meantime, you can view the pics of MSG on stage and visiting the Bone, a bay area radio station, that presented the Palo Alto show.

[12/07/01 update]
Michael's Down??: It has not been confirmed, but according to the information posted, Michael walked off stage and the second night of Palo Alto show was canceled. It was said he had a fever of 104. Hope Dave will post more info on his site.

[12/06/01 update]
Singing Michael: Apparently Michael has been awesome on this MSG tour and he is doing backup vocal on stage. At least in Palo Alto, he took to the mike and sang backup for Pete.

[12/05/01 update]
McAuley-related Interviews: According to Ralph Geiger of www.rockreunion.com, he has conducted an interview with the band called Haven. Robin McAuley (ex-MSG) helped them out recording their album. The singer, Pamme and Robin also temed up with each other in the Jason Becker tribute album. Here is the direct link. Ralph also conducted a interview to Dave Vaccaro, guitarist from V-Project. His album titled Lost Demos features Robin on vocals. Here is the direct link. (See related entry at 11/20/01 update.)

[11/29/01 update]

[11/27/01 update No.2]
MSG in Chicago: According to Tom and others who went to MSG's first night at Chicago House Of Blues, Michael Schenker was fine and he was polite and, at the end of the show, he shook all the peoples hands up front. The show started with Into The Arena and they did four songs from Be Aware Of Scorpions. Michael was doing excerpts from Adventures Of The Imaginations (Arrdvark) and Dreams & Expressions, which, according to Tom, was the best part of the show. Michael had to apologize once for messing up the intro to ESSENCE, but, he restarted the song and it was awesome. Some of the songs MSG played include the following (not in order). What a classic set!! There were 2 encores. Wayne Findlay is back on keyboard, backing guitar and vocal. The Plot played 4 songs.

Into The Arena
Arrdvark In A Car Smoking A Cigar
A song from Dreams & Expressions
Essence
Desert Song
Rock My Nights Way

Thank You 3 & The Plot: MSR's website has been renewed. According to the site, Thank You 3 is now available at the concert venues of the MSG U.S. tour which (must have) started yesterday as well as from MSR online. Also, by clicking "Audio Clips", you can hear clips from Thank You 3 and a new single of the PLOT titled Shakedown.

[11/25/01 update]
Self-Promotion: My music clips page has been updated for the first time in a year.

[11/22/01 update No.2]
KNAC Interview: As far as I know, there has been no interview. I had been listening to the station intermittently from 18:00 through 21:30 (PST), but he did not show up. It should be confirmed, though. DJs said during the program that they had no idea as to why he didn't show up. If it happened, it would be archived.

[11/22/01 update]
BAOS Distribution Problem: According to Graham, he got the information that the SPV's distributor based in the U.S. went bankrupt. Probably that is why some Americans have had difficulties getting BAOS in stores.

[11/20/01 update]
Magagni with McAuley: According to Ralph Geiger of www.rockreunion.com, he has conducted an interview with Italian guitar player Max Magagni. Magagni talks about his new album Twister, featuring guest apperances by Glenn Hughes, Paul Shortino (ex-Quiet Riot), Robin McAuley (ex-MSG) and Ian Paice (Deep Purple). He has also been working with Robin McAuley on his new solo album. Here is the direct link.

[11/16/01 update No.2]
Info from Steve: For those who might have a problem in getting BAOS, Steve has informed me that cdnow.com and amazon.com both have the MSG CD for sale and especially via CDNow.com, you can get those CDs including BAOS within 1 week.

[11/16/01 update]

He himself referred to Mozart!! The latest (Dec.) issue of the Burrn magazine has a two-page long interview to Michael Schenker which includes the following news. Note as always the interview was conducted in English and the articled was in Japanese. I have translated them back into English. So the following is not what Michael actually said.

(Be Aware Of Scorpions)

(Other New Albums) (Thank You Series) (THE PLOT and possible Japan Tour) (Concept Album) (MSG New Drummer) (UFO) [11/03/01 update]
MSG Pix & Graphics: According to Peter, Libby Wendt Photography & Graphics's website has some photos of MSG lineup for Be Aware Of Scorpions and two graphic artworks. I think the news about the pix of Chris Logan listed on this site has been reported before.

[10/29/01 update]
Michael & Marty & Shane: According to ElecticBasement, Shane Gaalaas is set to join MICHAEL SCHENKER and MARTY FRIEDMAN (ex-Megadeth) in Phoenix for an electric instrumental guitar album.

Phil & Jeff & Shane: Gaalaas, bassist Jimmy Curtain and COSMOSQUAD guitarist Jeff Kollman have finished up an album with UFO vocalist Phil Mogg. Produced and recorded by Kollman at his Crumb Studios, the album features 11 songs, including a cover of Tom Waits' 'Clap Hands', and is tentatively scheduled for release sometime in early 2002. Samples of 3 of the tunes can be downloaded at the official Jeff Kollman website.

Barry & Jeff & Shane: Progressive metal/fusion instrumentalists COSMOSQUAD, featuring guitarist Jeff Kollman (Mogg/Way, Edwin Dare) and famed rhythm section Shane Gaalaas/Barry Sparks (Uli Jon Roth, MSG, Yngwie Malmsteen), are gearing up for a Halloween Night show at the Baked Potato, 3878 Cahuenga Blvd W., North Hollywood - the latest in a series of highly successful 2-set one night stands at the venue.

As reported in other news sources, bassist BARRY SPARKS is currently holed up at a Los Angeles studios laying down bass tracks for the upcoming DOKKEN album. Shane Gaalaas will travel to Russia for 2 shows with Glenn Hughes in late November.

[10/28/01 update]
BAOS Title Came From: Mazur PR's website has some introductive information about Be Aware Of Scorpions in addition to Michael's bio. With regard to the album title, it cites Michael's comment "We were doing a photo session for the new release in my garden in Phoenix, where there are always a lot of creatures crawling about due to the immediate vicinity of the steppe. I mean snakes, little lizards, beetles and so on. The photographer said, half seriously, half in jest: Be aware of scorpions. I liked that immediately, maybe especially because of the ambiguity."

[10/26/01 update]
Chris' Site: Chris Logan's website has been updated. He also mentioned that there are plans in the works for dates in the U.K. and Japan. He also has a page on tour dates.

[10/24/01 update]
Wow!!!: According to Dave, Michael Schenker official site has been updated with some wonderful news! Check out What's New page. It says:

Tour page has also been updated with some U.S. tourdates. What a hardworking man! He is the modern Mozart.

[10/23/01 update]
BAOS Released in Japan: Although the official Japanese release date of Be Aware of Scorpions is tomorrow (24th), it's already in major stores. The jacket design for Japanese version was reportedly black & white, but exactly speaking, the jacket inside the plastic case is color (same as the European/US release) and the outer cover made of paper is black & white. In addition, it has an approx. 80 x 60 cm poster as a supplement, the design of which is almost same as the black & white jacket.

A liner note by Masa Itoh has some interesting comments. Above all, he said, "Actually the recording of Be Aware Of Scorpions went very smootly, I heard. As Schenker was moved by the fantastic chemistry created by the bandmates, he himself proposed to record another album without a rest. Then, as an exceptional case, they were about to continuously proceed with the production of another album . But, at that point, he started going mxd. Since his condition was so horrible, Jeff Martin left the band. And, according to his management, he was sent to hospital after that." But, Michael's playing in this album won Masa's highest praise. (Note that the original is in Japanese. I cannot guarantee that my translation conveys his intention 100% correctly.)

[10/12/01 update]
Link Page: I have updated my link page for the first time in almost a year.

[10/11/01 update No.2]
YOUNG GUITAR Interview: The latest issue (Nov.) of Young Guitar magazine has a 3-page interview to Michael Schenker and playing analysis of two songs with tablature from the new album. Some of his comments include:

According to the magazine, the album title came from the episode where Michael and members of Scorpions found a scorpion at his back yard when they were being taken pictures together.

Also, the magazine has a revised Nippon Crown ad of BAOS and WITS. Now it makes sense all about the bonus track and it's lineup (i.e., "Sweet Cool Kiss Of The Night" features Jeff Martin on vocal with the BAOS lineup). The Japanese jacket is black & white.

[10/11/01 update]
BAOS MP3: Accroding to Jonus, you can download MP3 files of each track of Be Aware Of Scorpion from the SPV website. Each file is as light as 205KB for about 30-sec music.

WITS MP3 & Bonus: You can also download MP3 files of each track of Written In The Sand from the SPV website. Apparently original track order has been shuffled as follows and the bonus track titled "Sweet Cool Kiss Of The Night" features Jeff Martin on vocal with the BAOS lineup (unlike the information on the Nippon Crown ad).

Written In The Sand - track listing -

1. Brave New World
2. Cry No More
3. I believe
4. Back To Life
5. Written In The Sand
6. Essenz
7. Love Never Dies
8. I Will Be There
9. Take Me Through The Night
10. Down The Drain
11. Sweet Cool Kiss Of The Night (Bonus track featuring Jeff Martin on vocal/drums, Rev Jones on bass, and Michael)

[10/10/01 update]
Written In The Sand and others: Accroding to Peter, Amazon.de has the information about the release of "Written In The Sand", "Thank You" and "Story Live". Looks like the artworks of "Thank You" and "Story Live" have been renewed.

[10/08/01 update]
Written In The Sand reissue: Accroding to the ad of Nippon Crown label, "Written In The Sand" with new bonus tracks will be released on October 24, the same day when "Be Aware Of Scorpions" is to be released in Japan. Insted of the two bonus tracks to the original Japanese version, two new tracks will be added which are titled "Down The Drain" and "Sweet Cool Kiss Of Night". I don't know what is going on, but the ad says "Down The Drain" features Jeff Marting on vocal and other members are Michael, Barry and Shane!?

BAOS album review: The latest (Nov.) issue of Burrn maganize has an album review of Be Aware Of Scoripions. Three reviewers give it 78, 74, 82 points respectively. I never care about album reviews in the magazine, though.

[09/30/01 update]
Chris Logan Update: Accroding to Chris Logan's website, the MSG Japan tour cannot be salvaged (he said it is in the toilet) while the U.S. end is hopefully going to be salvaged. They are now at the stage of finalizing plans, and Chris should have some information for us in the coming week or two. Chris also stated that there will soon be promo copies released to the press, and hopefully some radio airplay soon after. He wrote, "But you've gotta request it!! So PLEASE call your local rock radio stations and request something from the new MSG CD!!"

[09/27/01 update]
New CD Cover: Accroding to Peter from Mondria's MS website, the SPV's website has a picture of the jacket of MSG's new album titled "Be Aware of Scorpions" and its track listing. Here's a direct link. It says the fifth track is 'How will I Get You Back' unlike the previous information. Maybe it is incorrect. Surely Chris will give us some clarification.

[09/24/01 update]
New UFO/MS Discussion List: Dave's list has been brought down by a virus (sorry about that, Dave). Then a new list is now up and running at Topica. In order to subscribe to this list, you just need to send a blank mail to: strangersinthenight-subscribe@topica.com. Thans for your effort Batty (get some sleep).

[09/18/01 update]
Another Story about Martin (retracted): Since the original post was deleted from Racer-X discussion forum, the info which was added here has been deleted accordingly.

[09/16/01 update]
Martin Left the Band?: According to Tim's post, Jeff Martin posted a message (dated September 14) to a message board of www.Racer-X.com, which says:

Michael is a Musical genius, it was a joy working with him. Unfortunately, I left due to his problem with drinking and yelling at people at the wrong time. It's a shame, as you will hear, the new MSG is one of the best. I sing on three tunes and play drums on all. Chris Logan the singer on all the rest, did an awsome job and is a new shining voice on the scene.

Mr Schenker is working on his problems and I wish him the best.

____________
Yours,
Jeff Martin

The post can be seen by clicking here and then Racer X discussion and then entering into the thread called "JEFF ON THE NEW MSG CD".

[09/13/01 update]
MSG TOUR: According to Bella's post, the MSG tour is only posponed to change one member which is to be announced.

[09/12/01 update]
To People in The U.S.A.: I am sincerely extending my condolences and sympathies to the familes, relatives and friends of everyone who has suffered in the terrorist attackes on the United States.

[09/09/01 update]
The reason??: On the Japanese radio program, Masa Itoh commented that the reason for the Japan tour cancellation may be related to the fact that Michael fired rhythm member(s) of the band (or they left the band). According to Masa, on the very day when the ticket started to be sold, Michael's management notified the Japanese promoter that they just can't tour without telling them a reason in detail.

[09/07/01 update]
Tour Officially Canceled!: According to the announcement made by UDO, the planned MSG's Japan tour has officially been canceled for reasons of the artists. Refund period for those who already bought tickets is until September 25.

[09/03/01 update]
Tour Postponed!: Apparently, MSG's Japan tour will be postponed for yet-unknown reasons. However, the promoter said it will not be canceled.

[08/28/01 update]

(see related news at 06/20/01 update No.2). Thank you, David!

Tour Information: The tour date information has been temporarily retraceted from Chris Logan website for unknown reasons, so I have deleted them, too.

[08/10/01 update]
A great guy called Chris: Chris Logan has kindly sent me a message saying that he didn't at all take any offense to my update about the album title, etc. Rest assured for me, too. Sounds like he is a great and nice guy. Can't wait to hear him singing in the album and on stage!!

[08/09/01 update No.2]
Japanese Tour!!!!!!!!: The tour date information has been temporarily retraceted from Chris Logan website for unknown reasons, so I have deleted them, too.

IT'S OFFICIAL: Also according to Chris Logan Website,

There seems to be some contention among Michael Schenker website webmasters as to the true title of the MSG-2001 album. I can assure you all, regardless of what certain "insiders" may tell you, that according to the people at SPV records in Germany (the actual individuals who are assembling the album package), the name of the album per MICHAEL SCHENKER'S REQUEST will be: "Be Aware Of Scorpions"

- This is official -

This does not, however, exclude the possibility of typos and mistakes being generated from within SPV Records. You can rest assured that if you see something printed differently, it is faulty information.

Mr. honorable Logan, no offense. I believed you. I'm sincerely looking forward to seeing you here in Japan!!

[08/09/01 update]
"Beware" or "Be Aware"? (Cont'd): Malcom Dome also cited the title of new MSG album as "Beware of Scorpions". Looks like it needs some confirmation.

[08/08/01 update]
Oh, it's true! But "Beware" or "Be Aware"?: According to the official Chris Logan Website (Update Page 1), the New MSG Album will be titled "Be Aware Of Scorpions" and it is set for European release on October 29, 2001. It is scheduled for release in the U.S. on NOVEMBER 13, 2001.

[08/07/01 update]

The poster is enclosed which is the same as the one enclosed in the original record. I am now listening to the drum solo, which is fine. It was the take recorded at the Osaka show not at Budokan because Cozy was in the very bad form at Budokan due to his illness.
