Let it Roll!
Michael Schenker and his band rocked a sold out show Tuesday night at The Oriental Theater in Denver, CO.
I've already said plenty about Schenker's guitar work. He's in a good place right now, and it shows in every note he plays on stage.
What I haven't said is how much I also enjoyed R.D. Liapakis on vocals. If Phil Moog isn't personally available, I don't see how you can do much better than R.D. He's got a fantastic rock n' roll voice, from the ballads like "Love to Love" to the rockers like "Too Hot to Handle".
And the rest of the band is stellar as well. It's very hard to fill the shoes of someone like Pete Way, but Barend Courbois delivers the goods. Steve Mann handles keys, rhythm guitar and even an occasional lead with long-time Schenker collaborator Bodo Schopf on drums.
